Interaction to Next Paint
A Core Web Vital that measures the latency from a user interaction (click, tap, or keypress) to the next visual update, reported at the 98th percentile per session.
Interaction to Next Paint (INP) is the Core Web Vitals responsiveness metric that replaced First Input Delay in March 2024. Unlike FID, which only measured the first interaction's input delay, INP captures every discrete interaction (click, tap, keypress) during a page session and reports the near-worst result (98th percentile with an outlier adjustment of 1 per 50 interactions). Each interaction is measured across three phases: input delay, processing time, and presentation delay. The 'good' threshold is 200ms or less.
